>> FBiDrive Installation Troubleshooting

If you are having problems with the initial installation of your FBiDrive or using it on other Windows PCs after you have built your drive, please read the tips below.

Problems with the initial Installation/Building your FBiDrive

Installation stops at STEP 7 when you first run the product installation from the product CD.

  • You MUST run the FBiDrive installation from an Administrative level windows account. After initial installation, you may use the software from a non-Administrative account.

  • There may be a device that was previously not installed properly or a previously aborted FBiDrive install

Perform the following steps and remove the unknown device and reinstall the FBidrive™

1. Go to Start and Click

2. Go to Control Panel and Click

3. Go to System and Click

4. Go to Hardware and Click

5. Go to Device Manager

6. Check to see if there are devices with "?" or "!" mark.

If so, you have to remove from your computer, right click the item then select delete

7. Restart your system.

8. Reinstall the FBI Drive

USB High Speed Device Warning - USB 2.0 and USB 1.1

The FBiDrive works with both USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 connections.

When you connect an FBi Drive to a USB 1.1 interface, Windows may display a warning message that states “You are connecting a high speed USB device on your system with low speed connection”

Just click on "Continue" The FBidrive will work on the lower speed connection.

NOTE: USB Hub products are required to generate 3.5V in order to be a certified USB device.
The FBiDrive will not operate correctly without proper power. If your USB hub can not generate USB standard power then you can not use the FBiDrive with that hub. Please upgrade to a standard USB hub.
